Caramels

INGREDIENTS:
1 C. Butter
Dash salt
1 15oz. can sweetened condensed milk
2 ½ C. Brown Sugar
1 C. Light corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla

DIRECTIONS:
Melt butter in heavy saucepan. Add brown sugar and salt. Stir until thoroughly combined. Stir in light corn syrup, mix well. Gradually add milk stirring constantly. Cook and stir over medium heat until candy reaches firm ball stage (245o) abaout 12 – 15 minutes. Remove from heat, add vanilla. Pour into buttered 9x9x2 inch pan. Yields 2 ½ lbs. When cold, cut in preferred size and wrap individual pieces in waxed paper.
